Coffee on Sundays

I’ve always associated coffee with being together.

When I was little, it was something I shared with my grandma — sitting at the kitchen table, feeling very grown, listening more than talking. Later, it was what remained after the holidays “ended.” When the party noise died down, coats were gathered, dishes stacked, and somehow everyone drifted back to the table again. The real conversations happened there. Tired, warm, unguarded. Just whoever was left, sitting close, talking about life.

In my memory, coffee isn’t productivity or hustle or aesthetic.
It’s what you drink when you’re staying.

It’s warm. Familiar. Cross-cultural. Almost suspiciously universal. Marketers have tried to package it into something clever or aspirational, but underneath all that, it’s still just this very simple thing people across the world reach for when they want to sit together a little longer. Like water, but softer. People joke about needing it intravenously. Makeup shades are named after it. Entire personalities are built around it.

But at the end of the day, it’s just coffee.

Some cream. Some sugar. Maybe cinnamon next time.

So this year, I started Coffee Sundays.

Every other Sunday, I’ve open our home to friends and family. No formal plan. No performance. No expectation. You don’t have to bring anything. You don’t have to stay long. You don’t even have to be “on.” It’s just a place to land for a bit.

I want to hand you a warm mug.
I want to hear about your new job, or your old job.
Your sister’s graduation.
Your best friend’s breakup.
Your roommate’s swollen ankle.
Whatever is happening in your real life.

Yes, you can get coffee anywhere. You probably already have some at home. It might be a little bit of a drive. It might feel easier to stay in.

But if you’re open to it, we would love to see you.

Because we all say we want a village, and villages aren’t built in big dramatic ways. They’re built like this — people showing up, sitting down, staying a little while.

☕️ This is just coffee.
And my door is open.
